BC Softball ends regular season with 21-12 record

Butler County Softball went 3-3 over its final six games to finish the regular with a 21-12 record and the #2 seed in the 12th District Tournament.  The Bears defeated Trinity, Hancock County and Warren East, while losing to Bowling Green, Grayson County, and Greenwood.

The Bears defeat Trinity 5-1

The Bears beat Trinity 5-1 in seven innings on Wednesday, May 15, at Trinity behind Amy Rogers, who collected three hits.
She singled in the third and fifth innings and tripled in the seventh inning.

Havens Competes In State Track Meet

Butler County Senior Dylan Havens traveled to the KHSAA State Track Meet in Louisville to compete in two events, high jump and triple jump.  Havens finished in third place at the regional meet in Bardstown in both events.  He will attend Berea College in the fall on a track and choral scholarship. Congratulations Dylan!

BCHS Baseball Honors Seniors

The Butler County High School Baseball team honored their seniors on Monday night as the Bears hosted the Cougars of Logan County.  Butler County fell 6-9 to Logan County.

Seniors: Carrington Harpe, Elijah Flener and Keston Flener.

Seniors include Carrington Harpe, Elijah Flener and Keston Flener.  Each player was escorted to the field by their parents and presented gifts from the team.

Butler County Baseball fall to Muhlenberg

The Butler County High School baseball team traveled to Muhlenberg County on Tuesday night.  After leading for most of the game the Bears fell 5-6 to Muhlenberg.  We decided to let the pictures tell this game.

BCHS Softball Honors Seniors

Jazmin Reynolds, Payton Grubb, Madeline Drake, and Morgan Manning

The Butler County Softball team honored their four seniors on Thursday night as the Bears defeated the Lady Hornets of Hancock County 7-1. 


Morgan Manning is the daughter of Steve and Teryl Manning.  She played softball for six years. Morgan plans to attend college and pursue a degree in nursing.

Kentucky Afield Outdoors: Stream Smallmouth Love May

FRANKFORT,Ky.– I have an old friend who was reluctant to go wading in streams for smallmouth bass for many years.

“The fish are too small,” he said.

One May a few years ago, I convinced him to wade a small creek in centralKentuckythe weekend after the Kentucky Derby. From the time the water lapped over our ankles until nearly dark, we caught nice smallmouth after nice smallmouth. Many of those topped the 15-inch mark. I also hooked an unusual 22-inch largemouth bass on a 4-inch lizard that only had one eye.

Third Region Boys' Tennis Tournament

The Butler County High School Boys Tennis team participated in the Third Region Tennis Tournament on Monday.

Remmington Harpe lost to #2 Wilson (Daviess County) 6-0 6-0

Ivan Beasley lost to Meador (Cloverport) 6-3 3-6 1-0 (10-5)

Amit Hajari/Brennan Grubb def Frizzell/Bailey (Ohio County) 6-2 7-6 (7-5)

Dakota Merrick/Matthew Embry lost to Hadley/Travis (Muhlenberg County) 1-6 6-2 1-0 (10-4)

BCHS Football Blue/White Scrimmage

On Friday, the Butler County High School Football Team held their Blue/White Scrimmage.  This scrimmage was held in conjunction with the Relay for Life in order to raise awareness and hopefully help the Relay gain more income.  The past few weeks of spring practice for the football team have been very competitive.  The coaches have evaluated the players and are excited for what is possible this season.

Butler County Softball rolls past mid-season mark

Amy Rogers is safe at home.

The Butler County Bears' softball rolled past the midway mark of their season recently with several wins and a few losses.  On Monday, April 29, the Bears defeated Logan 12-1; dropped a 5-0 decision to 12th District foe Edmonson County on April 25; defeated Grayson County 3-1 on April 23; and beat Todd County Central 10-0 on April 22.  Butler County took part in the Greenwood Border Battle on April 19-20.   The Bears beat North Hardin 2-0 and Russell County 6-4 on Friday night.

Gaskey & Becker Earn Softball Capital One Academic All-District Honors

Sophomores CheyAnne Gaskey and Alexa Becker were honored for their excellence both on the field and in the classroom on Wednesday when they were named to the Capital One Academic All-District team by CoSIDA.

Gaskey, a sophomore marketing major with a 3.95 GPA, is having an outstanding season for the Racers.  She is currently 12-8 on the year with a 2.85 ERA and a Murray State single-season record 138 strikeouts.  This season, she also set the single-game mark for strikeouts with 14 and the single-season and career marks for save, with four and six respectively.
