BC Cancer Assistance 5K Glow Run/Walk Results

Butler County Cancer Assistance hosted a 5K Glow Run/Walk on Friday evening starting at Butler County Middle School.  Trophies and medals were awarded to the following:

RUNNERS
Overall Male: Christian Henderson, Overall Female: Lisa Bailey
Male Runners: 15 and under: First- Braiden Martin, Second- Ryder Lindsey, Third- Stetson Williams
Male Runners 50-54: Terry Steff
Male Runner 60 and older: Leroy Rodgers

Stan England Golf Scramble set for Saturday

The 3rd Annual Stan England Charity Golf Scramble will be held this Saturday at The Golf Course at Riverview in Bowling Green. All proceeds from the event will go to fund the Boys & Girls Club of Butler County.

As dead period comes to an end, both the girls and boys golf teams will be starting practice soon. Due to possible high heat indexes, both teams will have morning practices. KHSAA requires all athletes to get a physical each year in order to participate in any sport, including golf. You can find the new and up to date form on the KHSAA website. BC Cancer Assistance 5K Glow Run/Walk

Butler County Cancer Assistance will host a 5K Glow Run/Walk on July 17, 2015 starting at Butler County Middle School.  Registration starts at 6:30pm with the race at 7:30pm.  Entry fee is $10. Trophy awarded to first male and female runner and walker.  Medal awarded to first runner and walker in each age group. For further information please call: 270 999-1670.

State Farms wins GRCF 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament

The Green River Catfish Festival 3-on 3 mens' basketball tournament was held Saturday, June 27 at the Butler County Middle School gym.  With four teams in the field, Baker Gardner's State Farm team took the top prize in the double elimination tournament.  Gardner is the new State Farm agency manager in Morgantown.  Matt House, Jonathan Bates, and Michael Baker, along with Gardner, comprised the State Farm team. 
State Farm defeated "Past Their Prime" for the championship.  Team members are Patrick Johnson, William Anderson, and Daniel Richardson.

Kentucky Afield Outdoors: Trail cameras are windows into the woods

FRANKFORT, Ky. – A few paces inside a tree line that borders an open field thick with chest-high grass lies a tangle of narrow, sun-dappled game trails just a stone’s throw from the Kentucky River below.

KSR Will Broadcast Live from Final Finish

For the 4th consecutive year, Matt Jones and his Kentucky Sports Radio cohorts are coming to Morgantown. Jones, along with co-host Ryan Lemond and Shannon the Dude will be in town on Thursday, July 2nd. They will broadcast their show live from Final Finish on Gardner Camp Road from 9-11 a.m.

In just five years Jones has watched what started as an Internet-only podcast grow into a radio sensation. With more than 30 affiliates the show is one of the most-popular regional sports shows in America. His Kentucky Sports Radio blog is America's largest independent sports blog.

2015 Soccer Season Begins

July 13, the Butler County High School soccer team will begin conditioning for the 2015 season.  Due to possible high heat indexes as summer brings, we will begin conditioning at 3:30 to 5:00pm.  I am working on a camp, which will be held at the soccer Field, for two days, two hour periods.  Any young male athlete that would like to play soccer, contact Coach Melton at 270 535-2355.

BC Bassmasters: Mudd & Flener Takes Top Prize

Butler County Bassmasters held the first Annual Green River Catfish Festival Open Bass Tournament at the Aberdeen Boat Ramp on Green River. "We had a great day on the water at our inaugural event," said Daniel Cardwell.

Roger Flener and Jacob Mudd took home the $1000 top prize with 5 fish weighing 10.46 lbs., as well as big fish with a nice 4.00 lb largemouth. The total purse for the event came in at $1800.00 cash and prizes.

Bears' Basketball hosts summer camp

Basketball fundamentals were being taught last week - June 22-24 - as the Butler County Bears' basketball team hosted their summer camp at the B.C.M.S. gym.  The camp is in its third year and was attended by 44 players in grades pre-school through eighth.
