The Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday night, March 28th. A short agenda awaited members of the Court, and a small number of visitors were present at the meeting.

The meeting opened with several items of routine business.

Sherriff Scottie Ward, Jailer Terry Fugate, Circuit Clerk Melissa Cardwell, Clerk Sherry Johnson, Judge David Fields, and Supt. Scott Howard honoring Vietnam Veterans.

On the morning of Monday, March 28 Jane Smith, a member of the Butler County DAR, met with Mayor Billy Phelp as they signed a proclamation declaring March 29, 2016 as Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans' Day.

Morgantown's Rite Aid location celebrated the reopening of the store Tuesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Morgantown’s Rite Aid location (205 W G L Smith St.) celebrated the store’s reopening Monday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

District Manager Alex Poulter said the store was in need of a facelift.

Patton Harrison Allen, a sophomore at Butler County High School has been invited and accepted to attend the Gatton Academy High School of Mathematics and Science on the campus of Western Kentucky University in the fall of 2016.

The Butler County Fiscal Court met in special session on Monday night, March 21st. All Fiscal Court members were present, along with some visitors, and several members of the news media. Awaiting the magistrates were four items of business on the agenda.

Sen. Rand Paul made a visit to Butler County Tuesday morning to discuss national and local issues in a town hall setting. He will visit 9 western Kentucky towns between today and tomorrow.

Kentucky U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R) made a stop at the Butler County Extension Office Tuesday morning to discuss current state and national issues. Senator Paul touched on issues such as unemployment, economic growth and the growing national deficit, noting the debt clock on the wall of his office.

On Tuesday, March 22nd, and Wednesday, March 23rd, U.S. Senator Rand Paul will hold Town Hall events in Western Kentucky. He will be visiting Butler, Muhlenberg, Crittenden, Webster, Hopkins, Henderson, McClean, Daviess, and Ohio Counties.
