Patton Allen to attend Gatton Academy

Patton Harrison Allen, a sophomore at Butler County High School has been invited and accepted to attend the Gatton Academy High School of Mathematics and Science on the campus of Western Kentucky University in the fall of 2016.
Gatton Academy opened in 2007-08 school year, and for the past three years 2012, 2013, and 2014 has been ranked as the #1 high school in the USA. Gatton Academy’s fall 2016 enrollment will consist of one hundred juniors; fifty male and fifty female. While the senior class has sixty with a breakdown of thirty male and thirty female.  Gatton Academy students live on the WKU campus in the Florence Schneider Hall.

Applicants from all over the Commonwealth were based on ACT/SAT scores, awards, extracurricular activities, responses to essay questions and letters of recommendations.  In February, 165 students were invited to interview with community leaders from across the Commonwealth and Gatton Academy alumni; 100 were chosen to attend as the Gatton Class of 2018.
At the end of their two- year course study, students will graduate high school with a minimum of sixty college credit hours. The majority of Gatton Academy students also participate in a study abroad or global learning experience in locations such as Costa Rica, Greece, Italy, England and China.

Patton is presently a sophomore at Butler County High School. Patton is the son of Lena and Mark Allen, and brother of Kelsey Allen, and Kerra Sykes Ogden.  He is the grandson of Walkie and Mary Lou Lee of Welches Creek, and Helen Allen of Franklin, Ky.
