Rite Aid aims to improve community's health with renovation

Morgantown's Rite Aid location celebrated the reopening of the store Tuesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Morgantown’s Rite Aid location (205 W G L Smith St.) celebrated the store’s reopening Monday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

District Manager Alex Poulter said the store was in need of a facelift.

“This store has been here for a while so we’ve changed the format a little bit, which we’re excited about,” Poulter said. “This is the health and wellness format store, not only does it provide our customers with a different shopping experience, but additional pharmacy services for our patients to keep them healthy.”

Poulter said the remodel began in February and took five weeks to complete. Visitors to the renovated location can expect "a lot of decor changes, a lot of fixture changes. A lot of lights, which kind of accents the floors a bit," Poulter said. In addition, gondolas have been rearranged around to make the store more customer-friendly.

"The purpose of this is not only to provide a different shopping experience for our customers but to deliver better care to our community," Poulter said.

Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps said the renovation to the store will have a positive impact for the community.

“Rite Aid has already been a huge part of our community and the facelift you’re giving it does nothing but help the entire community. Not only is it an asset, it’s a valued asset.”
