Steve Day (fiddle) and Friends

This month’s concert on the courthouse lawn Saturday night brought out lots of grinners who gave enthusiastic support to some of the best pickers around. Steve Day (Fiddle) and friends Randy Graham, guitar; Luke Munday, banjo and John Marcus on bass were crowd pleasers.

There will be a book signing at the Green River Museum, Saturday, September 1 from Noon to 4:00 PM for Roger Givens' new book, Images of America, Butler County, by Arcadia Publishing. Book price $21.99, profits will be shared with the museum.

The Little Muddy RD Club met August 20th, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.  There were 16 people present.  Members arrived early so Program Leader Scott Keen could take them on a hayride around the community. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather and time of fellowship.

Hayward and Loretta Lindsey

Who knew? Certainly no one did as a salvage crew carefully took an old house apart on Sanders road off 79 north, a while back. For starters, when the present owners had the old weather boarding removed, the logs underneath were found to be of hardwood.

Doug and Sharon Lindsey

Monticello Baptist Church held their revival August 19 through the 22nd.  Bro. Ray Gililand brought the message every night and there was also special music.  It was a blessing for all who came.  Doug and Sharon Lindsey provided music.

Butler County was well represented in the rabbit  division of the Kentucky State Fair this year. A&B Rabbittry, Angel Wolf Rabbits, and Honey Bunny Farms competed in several categories.

Fifty years ago this summer, citizens of Auburn, Franklin, and Russellville, along with students from WKU, were preparing for the first performance of “Shakertown Revisited.” The script had been written by Russell Miller, faculty member in Western’s drama department, using both manuscript records

Saturday, August 18 I attended the 4th Annual Lake Malone Car, Truck and Tractor Show at the Lake Malone State Park in Dunmor, KY.  All models of cars, trucks and tractors were on display.  There were games, activities and fun for the entire family.
