Jarrod Jacobs: Love In Marriage

Something that needs to be seen is the love expressed between a man and woman in marriage. Those who are not married are one day going to be the recipients and givers of such love, and they need to look at those currently married to see what it is like to love someone and live with them for the rest of their lives.

Andy Sullivan: Against the Grain

A few days ago, a friend of mine posted a meme (picture with words, for the un-initiated), about flirting ie “How normal people flirt (hey sexy:) and how I flirt( if you were a tree, you’d be a good tree).
That made me wonder, and I even commented this on her photo, would you rather be called sexy or beautiful? Do you find sexy demeaning, like you’re just a piece of meat? I took to social media to get various opinions on this subject.

Like many others, I recently have experienced an allergy overload. My usual just-aggravating allergies turned into a sinus and ear infection. Even my eyes were watery. However, one trip to the doctor resulted in a much improved me.

Don Locke: Lookin Thru Bifocals

“Your retired?” a fellow asked me. I know this guy from years back, I wasn’t particularly fond of him even when we were kids. He was a blow-hard then--- still was.
“Yeah, I’m retired.” I said
“What do you do?” he asked
“Do?”
“Yeah you know… you play golf?”
“Well no… I…”
“I play golf,” he went on
“Well that’s fine I…”
“I’m retired too.” He informed me. “Play golf about half the year- we go to Florida in the winter.”
“That’s fine…I…”
“We leave just after Christmas.”
“Well, that’s good… I…”

Cheryl Hughes: COEXIST

Last week, I asked my friend, Josh Hampton, to create an original design for a sign I want to put on my Walnut tree in the backyard.  That particular tree, and the nearby vicinity, is the site of much conflict and carnage.  It is our farm’s version of the West Bank, as far as our animals are concerned, anyway.

Aaron Jacobs: Points in American History

The Tripolitan War- One of the most overlooked conflicts in American history is the Tripolitan War that the United States was involved in from 1801-1805. In 1801, President Jefferson wanted to continue good relations in the Mediterranean by speaking with North African leaders. When the ruler of Tripoli tried to increase the yearly tribute, Jefferson refused to pay. In response, Tripoli declared war on the United States.

Everyone has that song that, as soon as you hear that first chord, that first guitar riff, it takes you back to a certain moment in a time of your life.  I took a Facebook poll, as I’m apt to do, asking this very question.  I got a lot of responses.  The 1990 #1 “To Be With You” by Mr. Big was the first.  The 1976 Boston classic “More Than a Feeling”.  Blake Shelton “Do You Remember”, Metallica “Nothing Else Matters”, and Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock N Roll” are just a few mentioned.

Cheryl Hughes: Skipping B

I’m sure you’ve heard and even used the expression, “Point A to Point B;” however, in my life, B has never been the end point.  C is the end point.  B represents all the material in between that you had better pay attention to if you ever want to arrive at C.   I have tried many times to skip B, but it will not be skipped.  B is a force to be reckoned with.  Let me explain.
