Mistletoe: From Tree Thief to Holiday Tradition

Once autumn leaves have fallen, mistletoe becomes highly visible on large trees throughout Kentucky. Phoradendron, the scientific name for Kentucky’s most common variety of this parasitic plant, means tree thief. These small leafy plants are commonly found on twigs and branches of many hardwood species in the southern United States. Mistletoe extracts—steals— water, mineral elements and food from tree hosts; hence the name.

Ribbon Cutting at Kelly Services

On Wednesday November 16 at 11am, a ribbon cutting was held at Kelly Services to celebrate their new location in the Rose Plaza at 118 S. Main Street, Suite 2. Present were members of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce among many others.

Youngsters dreaming of Christmas, Santa, reindeer, loved ones and all the rest.  The memories of Christmas linger through a lifetime.  The joy and love of family and friends.  Many say that Christmas has become too commercialized.  But the memories are still not only free, but the best part of Christmas.
