BC Tennis: Boys fall to Cloverport, defeat Russellville; Girls JV down Cloverport

The Bears tennis teams were in action late last week hosting the Aces from Cloverport (Frederick Fraize High School) on Thursday and traveling to take on the Panthers of Russellville on Friday. The Boys dropped a 4-5 decision to the Aces in the last match of the evening. The Girls JV team defeated the Lady Aces 6-3. The Boys traveled alone to Russellville, Russellville does not have a girls team, where they defeated the Panthers 6-3. Match results are as follows:

UK Superfans See Coach Cal, National Championship Trophy

UK superfans Amy Smith-Thomas and Debbie Hammers made the short trip to Owensboro last Friday to see UK head coach John Calipari and the 2012 National Championship Trophy. Coach Cal and the trophy toured the state from Thursday to Saturday stopping in Ashland, Pikeville, Hazard, Frankfort, Elizabethtown, Owensboro, Paducah, Lexington, and Louisville.

Bears Baseball falls to Franklin-Simpson

Coach Winn sends Blake Graham home

The BCHS Bears Baseball team has had relatively quiet week so far, but things will heat up this weekend at the Bowling Green Invitational tournament. On Monday, the Bears traveled to Franklin Simpson high school where they faced off against the Wildcats. The Wildcats won with a score of 8-0.

BC Tennis: Bears have tough time in Daviess County

The Butler County Tennis Team made two trips up the Natcher this week to take on the Red Devils of Owensboro High School and the Panthers of Daviess County High School. The Girls picked up a 5-4 victory over the Red Devils on Monday night but fell 0-9 to the Panthers on Tuesday. The Boys fell to the Red Devils 3-6 on Monday night and were shut out by the Panthers on Tuesday falling 0-9. The Girls record now stands at 7-2 while the Boys record is 5-6. Bears Baseball falls to ACS, Russellville over spring break

Despite it being spring break, the BCHS Bears baseball team stayed busy over the week.  The Bears dropped a 10-0 contest at Allen County-Scottsville on Monday, and lost a close one 5-4 against Russellville on Tuesday night.  Rain canceled the game against Metcalfe County that was scheduled for Thursday.  The Bears JV also played once over the week, losing 3-0 against Russellville.

Kentucky Afield Outdoors: Perfect timing for turkey season

This year’s spring turkey season opens April 14 and closes May 6.  The outlook for the upcoming season is excellent with many young males, like this one, available for hunters. Kentucky’s turkey flock numbers about 250,000 birds.

Beech Tree Media, Bowling Green Hot Rods team up for "Game of the Week"

Beech Tree Media has teamed up with the Bowling Green Hot Rods to broadcast the Beech Tree Radio "Game of the Week" on WLBQ 1570 AM. Each Saturday night, Beech Tree Radio will air the Bowling Green Hot Rods game live. This is the second year that Beech Tree Media has broadcast all of the Saturday night Hot Rods games.

Bears Baseball drop two in Nashville

The BCHS Bears baseball team traveled down to Nashville over the weekend to play a two game contest against Davidson Academy, TN and Murray, KY. The Bears suffered a defeat 7-0 against Murray and lost a tough game to Davidson Academy 5-3.

T- Ball & Tiny -Tot T- Ball Sign-Ups

If you have a child, ages 2-5 years old and want to be a part of a T-ball team, join the Butler County T-Ball and Tiny Tot T-ball teams! You may sign up anytime before July 3, 2012. There is a $30 fee per player and the fee is due no later than July 3. The first sign-up is scheduled for April 16 from 5:00-7:00 PM at McDonald’s. Additional sign-ups will be scheduled in May and June. Deadline for sign-up is July 3. Games will be scheduled for Mid-August thru September
