Bears Baseball drop two in Nashville

The BCHS Bears baseball team traveled down to Nashville over the weekend to play a two game contest against Davidson Academy, TN and Murray, KY. The Bears suffered a defeat 7-0 against Murray and lost a tough game to Davidson Academy 5-3.

Game one was against Murray, KY High School. The offense for BCHS was asleep and was only able to post two hits on the day. The two hits came from sophomore catcher Clark Parker and 8th grade outfielder Eddie Phelps. Caleb Hunt was able to go the distance for BCHS, throwing 6 innings of baseball. Hunt allowed 7 runs to cross the plate without any help from the offense and the Bears gave up the loss 7-0.

The second contest of the day was against the Davidson Academy Bears. The bats seemed to wake up for BCHS in the first inning of the game after a bases clearing triple by senior Dillen White. BCHS was out front 3-0 after the first inning of play. Junior Keston Flener had the start on the mound putting up 4 innings of work on the hill. Davidson slowly battled back and eventually went up 5-3 after a big inning. Butler County was unable to respond at the plate and ended up suffering a 5-3 loss.

"We were just unable to put anything together after the first inning," said BCHS head coach Kevin Winn, "We got a lead right away and got comfortable, stopped battling at the plate, and tried to just sit on our lead."

The Bears are back in action tonight as they travel to Scottsville to play the Allen County-Scottsville Patriots. The Bears and Patriots already clashed once this year in the South Warren Leadoff Classic Tournament where the Patriots pulled out a 6-1 victory.
