League Shoots to begin at D & G Hunting & Archery

League Shoots will begin on Thursday, July 19th at 7:00 p.m. at D & G Hunting & Archery and will run thru the month of August. It is time to get ready for the upcoming archery season which will begin on September 1!!
 
The cost to shoot will be $10 per person. You will be classified according to NFAA rules and regulations. Everyone is welcome. If you need further info, call us at 270-934-2600 or 270-999-1797. We are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tuesday thru Saturday. Hope to see you on the 19th.

BC Little League 11 & 12 yr. old All-Stars take 2nd at Wild West Showdown

The Butler Co. Little League 11 & 12 year old all stars finished second place in the Bowling Green Wild West Showdown after a hard fought battle against Mulenburg Co. in the finals.

Players include Trevor Dockery, Colten Bratcher, Caleb Beasly, Easton Phelps, Ty Smith, Issac Flener, Lake Cameron, Jordon Dobbs and Lucas Tichenor. Coaches were Myron Dockery and Scott Cameron.

Boys Golf practice to begin

Boys golf practice begins July 16 at 8am at Hidden Valley Golf Course. Athletes must have physical papers to participate. For more infomation contact coach Dennis Robbins @ 999-2050.

Morgantown-Butler County Swim Team picks up another victory

On June 28th the Morgantown-Butler County Swim Team traveled to Glasgow for a tri-meet between Glasgow, Portland, and MBCST. The meet had a very rough start as Portland had the meet on their schedule as being hosted at Morgantown and showed up at the Morgantown City Pool. Once all teams made it to Glasgow the meet ran very smoothly. MBCST was able to come out ahead of both teams making the season thus far a 5-1.

GRCF: Hot Rod and Classic Car Show

On Saturday, July 7th, the annual hot rod and classic car show was held between 6pm and 8:30pm at the Green River Catfish festival. The contestants met at the Casco parking lot before cruising through the Festival and to the ball fields. A wide variety of old and new cars were present along with trucks. The winners are as follows:


-Best Corvette: Dwight Jenkins (at the top)

Lawrence wins Henry Golden Boy Rifle at GRCF

The winner of the Henry Golden Boy Rifle drawing at the Green River Catfish Festival was Larry Lawrence. The gun was accepted by Ricky Romans and presented by to him by Ben Hatcher of Woodbury Lodge #280. The winning ticket was drawn by Momma Beech Tree, Diane Dyer.

The Henry Golden Boy Rifle was presented to Larry Lawrence by John W. Brown of Woodbury Lodge #280 and Craig Hankins owner of True Value Hardware and sponsor of the drawing.

GRCF: Dog Show

The Annual Dog Show was held at the Catfish Festival on Thursday night. The Dog Show is sponsored by Heritage Animal Hospital and Bypass Animal Clinic.  Both facilities make many donations that allow participants to take home a variety of door prizes and treats. The show is organized every year by Darrell McKee, but according to McKee the dog show would not be possible if it were not for the donations made by Heritage and Bypass Animal Clinic and the volunteers. James Jackson, Melissa Waldron, and Tina Cohron judged the event.

108 terrapins take part in annual Catfish Festival Terrapin Race

Kobe Annis took first place in terrapin race, brother Weston provided moral support.

It took 11 heats featuring at total of 108 terrapins but when the dust had settled, terrapin #40 belonging to Kobe Annis came out on top and took home the $25 top prize.  Second place went to Sally Butler's terrapin #78 ($15), and terrapin #103 - Kypton and Erica McKinney - finished in third place ($10).  The race was held at 9 a.m. this morning - July 4 - at the Roger Gaskey Softball Field in the Charles Black City Park.
