GRCF: Dog Show

The Annual Dog Show was held at the Catfish Festival on Thursday night. The Dog Show is sponsored by Heritage Animal Hospital and Bypass Animal Clinic.  Both facilities make many donations that allow participants to take home a variety of door prizes and treats. The show is organized every year by Darrell McKee, but according to McKee the dog show would not be possible if it were not for the donations made by Heritage and Bypass Animal Clinic and the volunteers. James Jackson, Melissa Waldron, and Tina Cohron judged the event.

Fourteen dogs came out with their owners to compete in six different categories: cutest, smallest, largest, best trick, best mannered, and best dressed.

Participant numbers were down this year due to the extreme heat, but that didn’t stop the owners present from being proud to show off their pets. Approximately 30 people were there to show support.

The winner in the smallest dog category was JoJo. JoJo’s owners are Jerry and Kim Miller. JoJo was also able to show off her singing talent. Freckles, owned by Alexis White, took the trophy for largest dog. The trophy for cutest dog went to Trixie owned by Christian Johnson.  Best Dressed went to Tinker Bell who was wearing a red cheerleading outfit. She is owned by Deborah McClister.  Tinker Bell was also able to take the over all Best of Show prize home. Best Trick went to the scuba diving dog, Daisy, owned by Luke Wilkerson. The Best Mannered dog was Weanie, owned by Izak, Logan, and Trinity Givens.

All participants were able to take home a goodie bag for their participation and hard work.
