BCHS Marching Band Competes At Grayson, Prepares for Regional

The Butler County High School Marching Band competed in the Twin Lakes Marching Band Contest, at Grayson County High School on Saturday, October 15, 2011 in their last competition of regular season. The 2A class consisted of four bands, Butler County, Green County, Edmonson County, and Washington County.

Reynolds Named to All-District Volleyball Team

Butler County High School junior Jazmin Reynolds was named to the 12th District All-District Volleyball Team last night at Whitesville Trinity. Reynolds joined Sopie Henderson, Hannah Coomes, and Katie Winkler of Trinity and Katie Newton and Katherine McCrady of Grayson on the team. Butler County fell to Grayson County 0-2 in the first round of play. Trinity captured the 12th District Title. 

"I am very proud of Jazmin, she works hard, provides leadership and is an excellent student," said Coach Diane Dyer.

BC Cross Country Compete In Mustang Stampede

The Butler County Cross-Country team was in competition Saturday October 8th at the Muhlenberg County Mustang Stampede. The meet boasted 20 teams from the western part of the state and it provided good competition.

You can ask any of the people that have ever shared a card table with me and they’ll tell you I’m not a happy camper when some bozo starts calling wildcards.

Butler Crushes Todd 42-0

Butler Co. football, made sure Senior night was one the eleven seniors would remember. The Bears crushed the Todd Co. Central Rebels 42-0 in the last regular season home game. The Bears now 7-1 overall, and more importantly  3-1 in district play welcome the bye week and will be idle as they prep for the two remaining games of the regular season.

From the Sidelines Week #8

The Butler County Bears put week eight into the score book on Friday night with a 42-0 win over district opponent Todd County Central.  The BCHS football team and cheerleaders wore PINK in honor and in memory of all those effected by breast cancer.  With Butler County Schools on fall break the attendance was down slightly but the Bears showed up to play and came on to the field through a new tunnel.

Friday was the 2011 Butler County High School Fall Sports Senior night. Recognized were the senior athletes from a variety of fall sports, including boys’ and girls’ soccer, boys’ golf, cheerleading, and football. Pictured above: Dillen White, son of Billy and Connie White of the Northside.

Dirt Angel

It’s Saturday night, October 1st, at Cedar Ridge Speedway—the final night of the season for the Butler County track.  Trucks pulling trailers loaded with dirt track cars have been arriving all afternoon.  Around the track, seasoned drivers and pit crews unload open wheel and stock cars.  Haley Westerfield is talking to her mom, Misty, who is working registration.  Haley is waiting for her dad, Jimmy, to show up with her blue number H1 ride.  It’s the last place you would expect to find an eighteen-year-old former cheerleader (eight years at Ohio County schools) and beauty pageant

Gaskey On the Mound At WKU

The stands at the WKU Softball Complex was full of Butler Countians on Saturday afternoon in support of former BCHS softball standout CheyAnne Gaskey.  Gaskey did not disappoint as she took the mound against WKU and came away with the win.

In her first collegiate start and win Gaskey pitched four innings and allowed no runs.

Hot Rods Broadcaster Earns Promotion

Tom Gauthier Headed to Sister Team in New Hampshire

Bowling Green, KY – The Bowling Green Hot Rods, Class A Affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, are proud to announce that radio broadcaster Tom Gauthier has earned a ‘call-up’.  Starting November 1, he will serve as the new Director of Broadcast/Media Relations with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Class AA Affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays and Hot Rods’ sister club under ownership group DSF Sports.
