Bear Run 2012

The 6th Annual Bear Run was held at the City Park on Saturday, September 8th. Despite adverse weather conditions, it was still a great success.  The numbers were up from last year, with 235 paid registrations, and 159 people completing the race. The race left from the park and made a route through Morgantown before looping behind the middle school and back to the park.

From the Sideline Week #4

The Butler County Bears move to 4-0 on the season has they defeated McLean County 42-6 Friday night.  A few fans made the trip and braved the weather forecast.  The game was cut short in the fourth quarter due to lighting but the bears took care of business.  "From the Sidelines" will bring you a few pictures from the action off the field.  The Bears (4-0) head to Grayson County next week to take on the Cougars (4-0).

BCMS Softball In Full Swing

The Butler County Middle School fall softball season is in full swing and the varsity team has notched a 9-8 record against tough competition.  The varsity middle school team has picked up wins against St.

Bears eye Cougars in key district game

McLean County will be a football team hungry for a win on Friday night as Butler County makes the winding trip to Calhoun for a prep football Class 2A, District 2 match-up.  The Bears are undefeated at 3-0 and are coming off a solid 28-14 win over Fort Knox last week.  It's another story for the winless Cougars (0-3), who have lost 55-6 to Edmonson County, 56-7 to Marshall County, and 23-6 to Breckinridge County.

Butler County's Men of Steel (Horseshoes)

2012 State Champion (Elder) Bob Hudnall

Kentucky has a new men’s elder division horseshoe pitching champion and he is from Butler County. Bob Hudnall has just wrapped up competition at the 2012 State Singles Horseshoe Pitching tournament held this weekend in Chalybeate, Edmonson County. He entered, ranked an amazing number one seed, in his division and 23 in world ranking. Those stats are from the Kentucky Horseshoe Pitchers Association (KHPA) web site which tracks all players who are ranked.

HOMECOMING WIN: Bears roll 28-14 over Ft. Knox

The Butler County Bears' football team took care of business Friday night with an impressive and decisive 28-14 homecoming win over a solid Fort Knox team.  Although just two touchdowns separated the two squads, the up-tempo, fast-paced game didn't feel that close as the Bears controlled the line of scrimmage, ruled the airways, and gradually wore down the athletic Eagles.

Emmick's Bears gear up for Ft. Knox in homecoming match-up

Butler County (2-0) opens its home season Friday night with a homecoming contest against Fort Knox (1-1).  BCHS Homecoming festivities will commence at 6:20 p.m. with the opening kick-off set for 7 p.m.

BC Coach Ryan Emmick expects a solid team to roll into Morgantown on Friday night.

BCMS: Football

The Butler County Middle School football season has started.  The Bears will play their first conference game on Tuesday night as they travel to Hancock County.  Coach Lloyd Havens is coaching the team this year and they are 4-0 at this time. 
The 8th grade team has picked up wins over; Logan Co. Middle (50-0), South Warren Middle (26-7), Moss Middle (32-22), and Russellville Middle (28-6).
 
The 7th grade team is 2-2 on the season with wins over Moss Middle (16-12) and Russellville Middle (8-0), the Bears fell to Logan Middle (8-32) and South Warren Middle  (0-32).

Sept. 8th: Project Prom Bear Run/Walk

The 6th Annual BCHS Project Prom 5K Bear Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, September 8th.  The race will start at 9:00 a.m. at the Charles T.
