Fairview Community Health, Dr. Douglas join forces

Although the name on the sign is different, you will see familiar faces when you walk through the doors at the new Fairview Community Health Center. In early March, the Morgantown branch of Fairview Community Health Center joined forces with the private practice of Dr. J. Todd Douglas in an effort to better serve the citizens of Butler County. During the merge, A.P.R.N. Donna Curry and staff moved into Dr. Douglas' office located at 205 East Ohio St.

Traffic Advisory

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict traffic to one lane on the Wendell Ford-Western Kentucky Parkway at the Muhlenberg-Ohio County Line near the 65 mile marker starting today, March 19, 2012.

 This lane restriction is to allow a detailed inspection of the Western Kentucky Parkway bridges over the Green River at mile point 65.675.  To facilitate this inspection work a Snooper Truck will be positioned on the bridge deck.

BtN Facebook Winner Quincy Proctor Chooses Kelly's for $50

Quincy Proctor left Kelly's Quality Salon Tuesday afternoon with the new look she had been wanting without costing her a dime. How? Proctor had been selected as the Beech Tree News Fan of the Month for February. As the Fan of the Month, Proctor received a $50 gift card to the Butler County business of her choice.

"At Kelly's, you always walk out looking your best and this gift card came just in time for a new spring look," said Proctor. "I want to thank the Beech Tree Family for all the work they do keeping the citizens of Butler County informed," she added.

Zach Whittinghill Grandparent Essay Winner

A North Butler Elementary student was selected Butler County Winner in the 2011-2012 Grandparent of the Year essay contest sponsored by AARP Kentucky, the Kentucky Retired Teachers, and the Butler County Retired Teachers' Association.  Zachary Whittinghill, of Roundhill, is among thousands of Kentucky fifth graders who participated in the 11th Annual Essay competition for  2011-2012.  Students submitted essays answering why "My Grandparent should be the AARP Kentucky Grandparent of the Year"  to their 5th grade teachers who select the school's winner.  Each participating school winner and s

Two vehicle accident sends Sheriff's Deputy to the hospital

UPDATE:The  2001 Hyundai was driven by Kayla Phelps, 18, of Beaver Dam, according to a release from the state police. Phelps and her passengers, Melinda Phelps, 18, and Cindy Cockrel, 39, both of Morgantown, refused medical treatment at the scene. Deputy Hooten was taken by ambulance to The Medical Center, where he was treated and released. KSP Trooper Brian McKinney investigated the accident.

Local Bus Driver Arrested: DUI

An on-duty Butler County school bus driver was arrested on Friday afternoon and charged with DUI. Sandra Ford (Blair), 55, is charged with multiple counts following her arrest by Butler County Sheriff Scottie Ward.

According to Ward he received a call at approximately 3:45 p.m. that Ford was operating Butler County Schools bus #30 while intoxicated. The call came form a parent who learned of Ford’s alleged condition from their child, who was a passenger on the bus.
