Christmastime means a heaping helping of high school basketball to go along with all the dinners, presents, and parties. The tradition of holiday hoops has kept the teams from BCHS busy this week on day-trips to play in a pair of holiday showcase events.

Carroll County was the site of the Butler County High School Bears first holiday tournament last week for the North American Stainless Classic. The Bears went 1-2 for the tournament, which began December 21 and ran through December 23.

The Butler County Bears were riding a three-game winning streak on Friday night when they took the ride to Hawesville in Hancock County to take on the homestanding Hornets.
After out of district match-ups early in the week it was time for the Bears and Lady Bears of Butler County High School to return to district action on Thursday night. Their opponents were a pair of struggling basketball teams for Edmonson County High School.

After six weeks of basketball action, the 7th grade Butler County Middle School boys basketball team moves to 13 and 1 on the season with two great wins this week and the 8th grade team advances to 11 and 3 after two wins this week as well.

A former district foe was on the schedule Tuesday night when the basketball squads from Butler County High traveled to Todd County. Rebel Gym greeted the Butler teams with a rowdy crowd, and a hot and stuffy environment.
