The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) will dedicate a new historical marker in Butler County on May 1 at 1:30 p.m. CDT. It will be located at the intersection of Little Muddy Church Road and Highway 231, about eight miles south of Morgantown.

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against 22 individuals on April 12, 2015. Charges include possession of controlled substance, flagrant non-support, drug trafficking, theft, forged prescriptions, and manufacturing methamphetamine.

The City/County Clean Up was a huge success again this year.  According to County Road Supervisor Jonathon Deweese, residents fill 26 dumpsters with the help of the Butler County Jail Crew and county workers.

The Morgantown City Council met Friday at the at the Eva J. Hawes Building at a called meeting.

Mayor Billy Phelps said the City is taking applications for summer employment until April 29.

Area fire departments responded to a structure fire at 2715 Bowling Green Road on Monday morning. The home belongs to Dorothy Sims and is located at the intersection of Russellville Road and Hwy 231.  The fire appears to have started in the attic.  No injuries were reported.
