House approves Raymer, Heath resolution supporting Texas efforts to secure border

Frankfort, Kentucky (January 30, 2024) – A resolution urging Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear to express support for Governor Abbott and the state of Texas in their efforts to secure the border with Mexico cleared the Kentucky House by a vote of 77-17 on Tuesday. The resolution, HR 57, is cosponsored by Representative Rebecca Raymer and Representative Richard Heath.

Kentucky County Clerks Association Update on KAVIS System

Frankfort, KY— January 23, 2024 —Throughout January, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has been converting from its legacy motor vehicle system implemented in the late 1970’s, known as AVIS to a modern system known as KAVIS. This conversion has not gone as smoothly as hoped. The Kentucky County Clerks Association ask for our motor vehicle customers’ patience as we work with the Transportation Cabinet to resolve the issues at hand.

Committee approves wrongful conviction compensation bill

House Majority Whip Jason Nemes, R-Middletown, testifies on House Bill 178 before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. The bill would allow wrongfully convicted Kentuckians the ability to seek compensation.

Kentuckians who were wrongfully convicted of a crime may soon be eligible to receive monetary compensation from the state.

Bill to expand KEES funds for homeschooled students advances

Senate Majority Whip Mike Wilson, R-Bowling Green, testifies Thursday on Senate Bill 7, which would allow homeschooled students to receive Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship awards.

The Senate Education Committee advanced a measure Thursday that would allow homeschooled students to receive Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship funds for attending college.
