The Barren River District Health Department has confirmed 39 cases of COVID-19 in the Barren River District, six of which have recovered. Barren County has one, Butler County has one, Edmonson County has five, Logan County has three, Simpson County has 12, and Warren County has 17. Our district has one death reported from COVID-19. We stand in solidarity with those affected during these difficult times.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 31, 2020) – Expressing condolences, Gov. Andy Beshear announced Tuesday that seven more Kentuckians died after becoming ill from the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and urged Kentuckians to continue to take precautions and sacrifice to stop the spread.

Frankfort, KY (March 30, 2020)- Legislation sponsored by Rep. Steve Sheldon of Bowling Green to increase access to health care by allowing physician assistants (PAs) to prescribe certain controlled substances was signed into law by Governor Andy Beshear last week. Kentucky is the only state in the nation that does not allow PAs to prescribe some level of controlled substances.

The Barren River District Health Department currently has 29 cases of COVID-19 in the Barren River District, four of which have recovered. Barren County has one, Butler County has one, Edmonson County has two, Logan County has three, Simpson County has nine, and Warren County has 13. President Trump signed into law the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, (CARES Act), a $2 trillion stimulus package to mitigate the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The CARES Act includes stimulus payments of $1,200 for each individual and $500 for each dependent child, defined by the child tax credit rules as under age 17.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 29, 2020) – Gov. Andy Beshear pressed Kentuckians on Sunday to remain vigilant about social distancing amid reports of crowding at golf courses, basketball courts and home improvement stores to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and reduce the risk to others.

Gov. Beshear said people and businesses must do better to stop the spread of COVID-19 or risk undoing the sacrifices and efforts of everyone else.

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Census is underway.  The official count of the population - the Census - is mandated by the U.S. Constitution and conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, a nonpartisan government agency. The 2020 Census counts the population in the United States and five U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands).

The Barren River District Health Department is investigating 20 cases of COVID-19 in the Barren River District, two of which have recovered. Warren County has twelve cases, Simpson County has six, and Logan County has two. The news of positive cases has understandably raised concern for many community members. We should all prepare for the number of positive cases to continue to increase in the coming days, and take measures to calm anxiety and fear. Due to a limited amount of tests and supplies, only certain groups of people need be tested.
