The Butler County Fiscal Court met in special session on Thursday night. All the magistrates were present, but County Judge-Executive David Fields was absent. First District Magistrate Stevie Givens presided over the meeting.

The Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce held its April luncheon on Thursday. State senator CB Embry Jr. was the guest speaker for the event.
"We are very lucky regionally and statewide to have a state senator that lives two blocks from city hall," Mayor Billy Phelps said.
