Stabbing at City Park
UPDATE: Charles Carwile has been charged with assault in the first degree. He is lodged in the Butler County Jail.

On Thursday evening, April 28, 2016, at approximately six o'clock Captain Paul Burden and Officer Brian Ward of the Morgantown Police Department responded to the city park in reference to a fight and a possible assault with a knife. Through the investigation, it was determined a male subject has been stabbed twice with a knife. Prior to this incident words were exchanged between that male subject and another male subject. Charles Carwile apparently left the area, returned with a knife and stabbed Cody Swift twice. Swift was stabbed once in the arm and once in the side. Both subjects were taken to the hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries. At this time, charges are pending against the one male subject and the investigation is ongoing. Morgantown Police was assisted at the scene by Butler County EMS and the Butler County Sheriff's Office
