Local public health officials have confirmed an outbreak of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, in the Barren River area.  Pertussis, a respiratory illness commonly known as whooping cough, is a contagious respiratory disease caused by bacteria called Bordetella pertussis.

The Dollar General Market in Morgantown is open.  The doors opened at 7:00am on Friday morning and they have been busy.  The Grand Opening will be held on May 17th.  According to manager Rob Wilkins the store will be open from 7:00am until 10:00pm seven days a week.

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against 19 individuals on April 30, 2014. Charges include sexual abuse, rape, sodomy, drug trafficking, burglary, and theft. Arraignments have been set for May 13, 2014.
