Cheryl Hughes: Act Responsibly

This week, the mayor of Boston urged its citizens to act responsibly.  He issued the caution in response to the Boston Blizzard Challenge.  The challenge witnessed otherwise cautious people diving from upstairs windows and off railings into the snow drifts below.  These people have been snowed in for two weeks; I’ve been snowed in for just one, and the last thing I want to do is act responsibly.

Jarrod Jacobs: You Are In The Bible!

We have 66 books in the Bible (39 Old Testament books, 27 New Testament books) to provide us with God’s guidance and establish and strengthen our faith (Rom. 10:17; Jude 3). Sadly, after 2000 years, some call the Bible “outdated,” “unrealistic,” and the like. Some folks wonder how we can make applications to our lives when using the Bible. Yet, as we study the Bible, it is clear that we can apply Scriptures to ourselves. We are in the Bible!

Andy Sullivan: Against The Grain

I’m finally getting around to the second of my four-part “When I Discovered” series.  I first chronicled Queen.  This week: CCR.  I first discovered the John Fogerty-led group during my time at BCMS.  Sure, I may have heard them before but never paid attention.  It wasn’t an introduction where I was aware of what I was hearing.

Who is your friend? Dictionary.com defines friend as “a person known well to another and regarded with liking, affection, and loyalty” (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/friend). Most of us have friends – some friends are closer to us than others.

Cheryl Hughes: Thorns

Last Wednesday, when it was actually warm enough to be outside, my granddaughter, Sabria, and I went on an adventure—that’s what she calls our walks out on the farm.  Before we set out, we each chose a walking stick from the collection of limbs at the end of the wood pile.  They were to be used to fight off any “wild animals” we might encounter.

Jarrod Jacobs: The Blood Of Christ

Our Lord shed His blood on the cross 2000 years ago. This blood has cleansing power, the likes of which has not been equaled by man. In fact, there is nothing man can do to cleanse himself from sin, but Christ’s blood can cleanse man from sin!

According to Internet information, about 60 percent of Americans plan to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Originally, the day was to commemorate Saint Valentine. Now, people view Valentine’s Day differently. Some say they celebrate the day to make someone happy while others report enjoying gift giving, celebrating because others do, or feeling obligated to do so (http://blog.timesunion.com/savings/valentines-day-2015-facts-and-figure-...).

Legislative Update: Senator C.B. Embry Jr.

The 2015 legislative session of the Kentucky General Assembly began “part two” of the 2015 session on Tuesday, which made for a busy week for legislators in Frankfort.
Continuing the goal of “creating Kentucky jobs and strengthening Kentucky families,” the Senate Majority Caucus wasted no time introducing our next five priority bills and giving them a first reading on the Senate floor Tuesday.

My Career As A Woman

I wish I had a gazillion dollars so I could take my granddaughter, Sabria, to visit other countries and cultures.  I don’t have, so I have to settle on the internet for our tours.  One morning, she noticed a picture of the Aurora Borealis on the calendar hanging on our bathroom wall.  She wanted to know more about it, so I found additional information on some internet sites that also included the eight best places to view the Northern Lights, as well as pictures from those sites.

Jarrod Jacobs: “And Such Were Some Of You”

The title above comes I Corinthians 6:11. In context, I Corinthians 6:9-11 reminded the Corinthians (and us) that it is Christ who made forgiveness of sins possible. Let us read I Corinthians 6:9-11 and make some applications.
