Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

A couple of weeks ago, I attended my first destination wedding. The destination happened to be a beach location, and we were blessed with pleasant summer-like weather. Although we traveled a day to get there and a day back, it was not only a beautiful wedding but also a memorable mini-vacation.

Most, if not all, of the old grade-B movie cowboys have ridden off into the sunset.
Grade B movies were Saturday in most small towns-short on plot and long on horse hair and gun powder; on the average most were ground-out in three or so days. The main grinder-studios were Monogram and Republic.
Each picture featured a hero, a hero’s side kick, and a bevy of low-down, side-winder crooks, who were constantly trying do-in the hero. In the grade-B cowboy pictures you had singers or shooters-or singers and shooters both.

As I write this, my commode is sitting in my bathtub, and my bathroom floor has ceased to exist—unless you count the bits of insulation still clinging to the exposed floor joists.  I mentioned last week that we are replacing the flooring in the kitchen, dining room, hall and bathroom.  The renovation has now expanded to the replacing of the entire bathroom floor, subfloor and all.

Debby Burden Lanham: View From My Lens

The sunset... not sure which is my favorite, the rising or the setting of the sun. They both touch my heart with each one that takes place. One reason is when they are as beautiful as this one, it's just a beautiful display of God's artistry and it doesn't cost a thing to absorb it. Every chance I get, I try to capture the beginning and ending of the day, I don't accomplish this everyday needless to say, but when I do, it just humbles me. Take the time to enjoy what God blesses you with everyday! Just look toward the sunset and breathe and thank God for the blessing!

Jarrod Jacobs: Learning From Jonah

The book of Jonah provides us with a fascinating study. Last week, we studied the first two chapters in the book of Jonah. We conclude our study here. We ended last week’s article with Jonah’s understanding that “salvation is of the Lord” and then being spit out on the land (2:9-10). Let us continue in our study of the book of Jonah.

PHIL'S PHILOSOPY By: D.P Kinkade Contributions by: Taylor & Drake Kinkade

I SEE IT DIFFERENTLY:  If you have given more than just a cursory glance at even a fraction of the things I have written in either this column, or anything else I may have penned over the years, then you know good and well that I tend to view the world a little differently than common. I have come to accept that about myself but if truth be known, that has not always been the case and to be completely honest, there is still a small part of me that struggles with the concept of seeing life differently than those around me, even to this day.

On December 13, 1799, the Kentucky General Assembly enacted a bill creating Floyd County from Fleming, Montgomery and Mason counties. Floyd County was the fortieth county to enter the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Floyd County was named in honor of Colonel John Floyd (1750-1783), a surveyor and famous pioneer explorer.
In the 1800's, all or parts of fifteen other counties were formed from the original 3,600 square mile tract. Today, Floyd County consists of 393 square miles. The 2000 Census population of Floyd County was 43,586.

In the past week, four random thoughts have been on my mind. Although each is in some way related to the time of year, they are unconnected. Perhaps many of you have had similar thoughts.

Thoughts: The Practical Side.
I suppose psychologists do good work if they leven in a large helping horse sense to go along with the theories and mechanics of their craft. Too, if they consult with God from time to time.

Cheryl Hughes: Back Story

My husband, Garey, doesn’t believe in the yes/no answer.  You will quickly find this out if you ask him a question about anything.  Case in point: question, “Did you get the wash bays cleaned up?” answer, “I guess everybody with a 4-wheeler got it out and went muddin this weekend.  Oh, and some trucker cleaned out some kind of sludge and threw it all over the truck bay walls.  That took a good forty-five minutes to clean up.  And I noticed a guy with a Razor that looked like it’d been to every deer stand in the county pulling in the parking lot as I was pulling out, so I’ll have to go back
