One morning while our granddaughter Sabria was staying with us, she said, “Teach me how to make pancakes, Gee.”

Jarrod Jacobs: Keep it Simple

The above statement is the “motto” of a friend of mine. When it comes to the preaching and teaching of God’s word, he tells me often, “Keep it simple.” This sentiment was impressed upon my mind even further when a lady said she had learned that the main problem that high school students have today is not which church to go to, but whether or not to believe in God in the first place.

There are a lot of phrases that, when you hear them enough, make you wonder what they mean or from whence they came. It happens to me quite frequently.  Being of a curious nature, I look these things up.

Napping is like a good dessert – something I don’t get daily. I’ve always enjoyed a nap, from the age

when my mom scheduled a rest after lunch, through college when it was a reward and even now when the opportunity arises. I believe a nap improves my energy and mood. But what do we know about napping?

Other religious folks seem to hold to an opposite extreme, implying that one can “earn” salvation, thus leaving little room for grace in our lives. In Bible days, folks were reminded that God’s grace is needed in our lives.

Since both of my parents were born in July, I’ve been thinking about their example in my life. Bob Keeshan said, “Parents are the ultimate role models for children. Every word, movement, and action has an effect. No other person or outside force has a greater influence on a child than the parent” My parents definitely influenced my siblings and me.
