Butler County Grand Ol' Opry Nets $4,500 for Project Prom

The BCHS gymnasium was packed with talented performers and local citizens on Saturday, March 22nd. The event, "Butler County Grand Ol' Opry" was  a fundraiser for 2014 Project Prom activities. An extensive list of local musicians and vocalists took the stage beginning at 6PM and went well on into the evening.

North Butler Elementary Region Governor's Cup Winners

North Butler Academic Team

North Butler Elementary Academic team participated in the Region 6 Governor's Cup.  The Quick Recall team placed second.

Jacob Cox placed third in Social Studies and Nate Henderson came in third place in Science. Congratulations North Butler Academic team.

Second Time Around, Same Outcome, Mayor and City Council Salaries Stay The Same

For the second time this week the Morgantown City Council met in special session on Thursday evening to discuss the salaries of the mayor and council. The council deadlocked 3-3 on Tuesday on whether to keep salaries at their current levels. Mayor Linda Keown broke the tie by casting a vote in favor of the current salaries.

Rochester Ball Park Plans

The Rochester city council held a public meeting on Tuesday March 18 at 6:00 pm to discuss the construction of a ball field in Rochester.  Sandy Priddy began the meeting by introducing Rochester Mayor Horace Hammers, council members Martha Rowe, Eddie Johnson, and Mike Porter.  Ashley Simpson from BRADD, Barren River Area Development Department, was in attendance.  Butler County Schools Superintendent Scott Howard works with BRADD, thus how the representative was asked to attend that evening. Also there was Butler County Judge Executive David Fields, as well as 57 community members.

FSA Celebrates American Agriculture Producers on National Ag Day – March 25th

Lexington, KY– March 17 2014-- USDA Kentucky  Farm Service Agency (FSA) State  Executive Director John W. McCauley encourages everyone to take a moment to appreciate the hard working farmers and ranchers in Kentucky on March 25, National Ag Day. This year's theme is “Agriculture:  365 Sunrises and 7 Billion Mouths to Feed.”

Butler County Conservation District Awards Reception

Amanda Arnold, Darren Rice, David Fields, Johnny Tuck, David Newton and Scott Howard.

The Butler County Conservation District held an awards ceremony on March 11th at the Butler County Conservation District Office in Morgantown. Butler County Judge Executive David Fields and Johnny Tuck, Second District Magistrate, presented the Annual Allotment of $35,000 to the Conservation District. The winners in the Jim Claypool Art and Conservation Writing Contests were recognized.

Council keeps current salaries; Mayor Keown casts tie-breaking vote

In a special session on Tuesday evening the Morgantown City Council once again debated the salaries of Morgantown elected officials. After discussion on the topic, a motion to keep the current salaries passed after Mayor Linda Keown broke a 3-3 tie .
