Insurance, dirt hauling, bids, and county clean-up discussed by magistrates

Butler County Fiscal Court met in special session on Monday night, April 28th, with all members present. The Court dealt with a short agenda.

Gina Tynes from Hocker Family Insurance presented the Court with employee health insurance rates for the upcoming fiscal year. Tynes brought the squires a proposal that increased premiums by only 6%. Due to changes caused by the Affordable Care Act and inflation, the 6% increase is good according to Tynes. The Court unanimously accepted the new rates.

Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center to host National Day of Prayer event.

Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center will host an event on Thursday, May 1, at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate the National Day of Prayer.
The National Day of Prayer is held each year on the first Thursday in May. A law was enacted in 1952 formalizing observance of the day, although its origins trace back to 1775, when the first Continental Congress called for a National Day of Prayer and melding the relationship between government and the blessings of God.

Meth Found On Sawmill Road

Autumn S. Davis

A drug arrest resulted from an ongoing investigation in Morgantown.  Autumn S. Davis (DOB 3/21/89) of 305 Dave Gaskey Lane, Morgantown was arrest on April 27.  Davis was at 211 Sawmill Road when police, Butler County Sheriff Deputy Chris Reneer and Morgantown Police Officer Brian Ward, came to the home.  The owner of the residence gave verbal consent to a search.

Severe weather possible off and on for next few days

There could be two or three rounds of severe weather in Western Kentucky during the next few days, the National Weather Service said.
After a lull early Monday, another round of severe weather could appear Monday into Monday night. A third round is possible Tuesday but the weather service said the risk Tuesday appears to be low compared to the first two rounds.

The NWS office in Jackson said severe weather and heavy rainfall is possible for Eastern Kentucky Monday through Tuesday.

BC Sheriff's Department Makes Drug Arrest

After an ongoing investigation the Butler County Sheriff’s Department and the Kentucky State Police made a significant drug arrest on Wednesday.  A search at 1333 Brownsville Road, resulted in 143 packages of Synthetic Marijuana (Spice).  Michael S. Huff (DOB 10/1/78) was arrested and charged with trafficking in synthetics, 2nd subsequent offense.  Huff had also had an active warrant from Taylor County for the same offense.

The site will be all inclusive providing information on the City History, Forms and Permits, a City Directory, and all events happening inside the City and Park.

Local "Creative Patriotic Art" Winners Recognized

On Thursday April 17, the local first, second, and third place winners for the "Art For Heroes" competition on the high school level were recognized. Third place was Ty-Thomas Evans Houston, second place went to Destiny Phelps, and first place was awarded to Sylvia Hardesty.

UPDATE: Arrest Following Fire on Sawmill Road

This house fire occurred on Sunday, April 20, 2014.

 UPDATE: The fires on Sawmill Road may have come to an end as an arrest was made on Wednesday. David Autry, 51 of Morgantown was charged with arson, second degree and lodged in the Butler County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond. The Kentucky State Police and the ATF/Bowling Green Fire Department Arson Task Force led the investigation
