Zonie Riggs, 79, of Caneyville, passed away Saturday, April 16th, 2016 at her residence.

She was born on Saturday, March 13th, 1937 in Butler County, the daughter of the late Emmit Thomas and Lucy (Phelps) Embry. She was a housewife and homemaker.

Zonie is survived by her four sons, James T Ashby of Eddyville, Earl Ashby (June) of Caneyville, Darrell E Ashby (Shirley) of Beaver Dam and Richard D Ashby (Mikie) of Caneyville; one special “daughter”, Mary Jo Wilcher; six step-sons; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, James Randel Ashby and Howard Riggs; one son, Gary Wayne Ashby and two sisters, Neva M Morgan and Edith M Whitaker.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 19th at 1:00 pm at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Charles Shephard and Bro Keith Shephard will be officiating.

Burial will be in the Zion Harmony Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Monday after 4:00 pm and Tuesday from 9:00 am until time of service.
