William Logan Hunt ("WL" as many knew him), 94, of Morgantown, KY. passed away in the loving presence of his son and daughter Thursday April 27, 2017 at Morgantown Care and Rehab. Logan was born December 13, 1922 to Charles Denton and Mary Elizabeth Meadows Hunt. After the Brooklyn, Kentucky schoolboy valiantly served his country on the European Front in D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge as an Army sergeant in War II--awarded the Purple Heart for wounds incurred during the latter-- Logan returned to his family's home in the "holler" in Monford of Butler County. There, Logan married his wife of many years, Golda Marie Johnson Hunt (Goldie). After a brief period of employment in Illinois, the little family settled for good on the family farm, building a house and at times, raising cattle, and always tending a fine garden. Logan accepted Christ as Savior as a young father, was baptized and joined Belmont General Baptist Church, where he served several years as deacon. An industrious and responsible community member as well as Freemason, Logan owned and operated a family strip mine hauling coal over Butler and Grayson County, Butler County Schools awarding him the contract to supply all its facilities, which still included many one-room schoolhouses. During the 1970s, he owned and operated Hunt's Dry Cleaners in Morgantown and was superintendent of North Butler Coal Mine among others. Later, he worked several years at Paradise Steam Plant. Above all, Logan was a loving father who dedicated his life to taking care of his family.

Logan was preceded in death by his wife Goldie and his daughter, Barbara Flener. He is survived by one son, Robert Logan (Bobby) Hunt and wife Phyllis of Bowling Green; one daughter, Teresa Fentress and husband Sonny of Lawrenceburg, KY; son-in-law Roger Flener of Monford; four grandchildren, Rebecca Flener Mudd and husband Mark of Monford; Abby Porter Charlton, Lawrenceburg, KY; Andrew Porter and wife Laura, Bowling Green, KY; and Alexander Porter and wife Leslie, Lawrenceburg, KY; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Mudd, Adeline Charlton, Leo Porter, and Gabriella Renfrow; and cherished nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Aberdeen Baptist Church on Monday, May 1 at 2:00 PM, with Bro. Rudd Kerr, Bro. Roger Taylor and Bro. Gary Embry officiating. Burial will be in the Belmont Cemetery where military rights will be presented by AM Vets #117. Visitation will be held on Sunday April 30, 2017 from 1:00 pm - 8:00pm and Monday May 1, 2017 from 8:00am - 1:30pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel at that time a procession will follow to Aberdeen Missionary Baptist Church for the funeral service at 2:00pm.
