William E. "Toby" Waddle

William E. "Toby" Waddle, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2024, at Morgantown Care & Rehab. Born on September 13, 1941, in Butler County, KY, the son of   Clarion Waddle and Christine Belcher Waddle Render. Toby lived a full and vibrant life marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to his family. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Larry Waddle.

Toby's journey began as a young man graduating from Butler County High School in 1960, where he formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundations for his future. His commitment to service was evident early on as he joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and member of Morgantown First Baptist Church.  Toby's entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the co-owner of B & M Auto Parts, where his hard work and integrity were well-known throughout the community.

On April 3, 1964, Toby married the love of his life, Kanita White Waddle, in a union that would flourish over the next 60 years. Together, they built a family rooted in compassion and joy, welcoming their two daughters, Becki Tarrance (Dwayne) of Morgantown, KY, and Heather Herndon (Scott) of Cookeville, TN. Toby's role as a father was one he cherished deeply, and his guidance and humor were the cornerstones of many family memories.

Toby's legacy continued to grow with the arrival of his four grandchildren, Phillip Tarrance (Lacey) of Bowling Green, KY, Mallory Ashley (Matt) of Morgantown, KY, Madeline Starnes (Andrew) of Goodlettsville, TN, and Meredith Herndon of Cookeville, TN. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and was a constant source of support and encouragement. The joy in his life multiplied with the birth of his two great-grandchildren, Ana Grace and John Henry Tarrance of Bowling Green, KY, who brought him immeasurable happiness. Family was everything to Toby, and this extended to his close nephews, Robert Waddle (Amy) of Morgantown, KY, and Allen McKee (Cathy) of Bowling Green, KY, as well as his dear aunt, Mavis McKee (Allie) of Morgantown, KY.

Toby's interests were a reflection of his love for the natural world and the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid bird watcher, finding peace and solace in the beauty of nature. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Whether it was a family gathering, a quiet afternoon, or a celebration, Toby's presence was a source of warmth and happiness. Those who knew Toby would describe him as loving, funny, and selfless. His ability to bring laughter into any room and his selfless nature made him a beacon of light for all who had the privilege of knowing him. Toby's love for his family, his unwavering kindness, and his infectious humor will be remembered by all who were touched by his life.
