Vida Mae Dodson, age 80 of Morgantown, KY, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY. Born on Sunday, April 8, 1945, in the Jetson community of Butler County. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

 

Vida is preceded in death by her parents, James T. and Opal Jerline Lindsey Adkins; her son, Erdist William Costello; and her brothers, Tommy, Alvie, and Don Adkins. Her memory will be treasured and kept alive by her devoted husband of 19 years, Mike Dodson of Morgantown, KY, whom she married on October 14, 2006. Her three children, James Eddie Costello of Morgantown, KY, Vonda Turner of Woodbury, KY, and Lori Clark of Beaver Dam, KY. Vida's legacy continues through her 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Siblings, Johny Adkins of Morgantown, KY, Fordia Dunn (Larry) of Morgantown, KY, and Martha Dunn of Morgantown, KY, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Throughout her life, Vida was a dedicated homemaker and a member of the Woodbury Missionary Baptist Church. She was a avid lover of the outdoors, Vida found peace and happiness in fishing, hunting and cooking. But most of all she loved spending time with her family.

 

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Friday, October 10, 2025 at 1:00pm with Bro. Raleigh Blancett officiating. Burial will be in the Little Muddy Cemetery where her family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm and Friday 9:00am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
