VC Washer

VC Washer, 85, of Morgantown, Ky., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  He fought his battle with courage and dignity, now he has found healing and peace.  VC will be remembered for putting God, family and friends first.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on Jan. 29, 1935 to the late Jasper and Hallie Tinsley Washer.  He was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, a Farm Equipment Dealer and Farmer.  He also worked part time in the winter for Paramount Food in Louisville.  He loved to watch television. 


VC lived on his family farm all his life, working the land.  He loved farming, where he made a living for his wife and children.  He enjoyed being on the Orange Cemetery Committee, this was very important to him.  He would accompany his grandfather Spencer Washer “Pete” and his father Harold Washer every year to the graveyard cleaning.  He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Karen Johnson; grandsons Shawn and Hunter Washer; brothers Roy, Wayne and Guy Washer.  


VC is survived by his wife of 67 years Frances Hudnall Washer; daughters Peggy Haley (Jerry), Linda Andrews, Debbie Blakeman and Frances Holland (Gary); sons Van Washer (Jamie), Danny Washer (Sandy Willis), Barry Washer (Sally), Floyd Washer (Sheila) and Lloyd Washer; 19 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; classmate Dodson Givens, whom VC thought the world of.  They shared good times and memories.  A special thanks to his granddaughter Amy Whitler for taking care of her Papaw and family. 


Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 11am at Smith Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Orange Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 28 from 5-8pm and Tuesday from 8am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
