Van B. Cardwell Jr., 72, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 in Lewisburg, Ky. He was born in the Jetson community of Butler Co., Ky. on Sept. 16, 1949 to the late Van Buel and Lucy Ann Johnson Cardwell. He was a Tow Boat Captain and Pilot of the Nugent Sand Company in Louisville, Ky. for over 31 years. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union. Van enjoyed driving his tractor, going to the gambling boat, scratching off lottery tickets and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ramona Jane Henderson Cardwell; sisters Wennie Bell Cardwell and Norma Sue Cardwell.

He is survived by his daughters Kimberly Smith, Lisa Pendley (Jeff), Amanda Cardwell (Chris) and Julie Brindley; grandchildren Laura, Cassie, Nathan, Tyler, Allie, Jonathan, Jacqulyn, Jessica, Clarissa, Breanna, Ashley, Alissa, Cody, Issac, Skylar, Summer, Aiden and Preston; several great grandchildren; sisters Maxine Smith, Shelby Phelps, Vickie McPeak and Rosa Johnson; several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 2pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Jim McDaniel officiating. Burial will be held in the Henderson Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 11 from 4pm-8pm and Thursday from 8am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
