Thelma Lorene Embry, known affectionately as Lorene to her friends and family, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Colonial Nursing Home in Bowling Green, KY. Born on September 30, 1927, in Butler County, KY, Lorene lived a rich and fulfilling life characterized by her loving nature, kindness, and thoughtfulness.

Lorene was the daughter of the late Latney and Flossie Renfrow Embry. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Albert Embry, her daughter Glinna Embry, her brother and sister-in-law Raburn and Otelda Embry, and her sister Aleta Coots. Her legacy continues through her surviving family, including her daughters Ammie Patterson and Anna Gates (James); her five grandchildren Shane Patterson (Mikayla), Shelby Jeffries (Isaak), Cameron Patterson, Briar Gates (Maddie), and Hunter Gates; and her great-grandson Ryder Gates. She will also be fondly remembered by her brother-in-law Paul Embry (Devois), sister-in-law Gustine Embry, and her special niece and nephew Samantha and Noah Coots.

A member of Barnetts Lick Missionary Baptist Church, Lorene's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Lorene's interests were a reflection of her love for her family. She was an exceptional seamstress, often sewing beautiful garments and gifts for her loved ones. Her cooking was a source of comfort and delight for her family, and she took great pride in canning the vegetables from her garden. Lorene was also passionate about teaching her grandchildren the value of self-sufficiency and the joys of cooking and canning, passing on traditions that will be cherished for generations to come.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Monday, February 9, 2026 at 1:00pm with Bro. Kevin Green and Bro. Joe Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the Isiah Evans Cemetery where Shane Patterson, Cameron Patterson, Briar Gates, Hunter Gates, Isaak Jeffries and Noah Coots will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 10:00am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
