Thelma C. Farris

Thelma C. Farris, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford, KY. Born on May 9, 1932, in Cromwell, KY, Thelma's life was a testament to her spirited nature and unwavering faith.

Thelma's journey began as the daughter of Clarence and Cora Daugherty Flener, who, along with her beloved husband Reathel Farris, her sister Kathleen Shields, and brother Junior Flener, preceded her in death. Her legacy continues through her devoted children: sons Steve Farris (Lisa) of Beechmont, KY, Stan Farris (Tonya) of Morgantown, KY; and daughter Stephanie Lee (Jerry) of Morgantown, KY. Thelma's love multiplied through her six grandsons: Cody Farris (Lindsay), Quentin Farris (Mallory), Justin Abell, Jaccob Lee (Tessa), Trapper Farris (Kinsley), and Tanner Farris, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

The family tree flourished under Thelma's nurturing care, extending to seven great-grandchildren: Hudson, Adeline, Caden, Nolan, Ryman, Titus, and Wilder. Her sister Joyce Mull (Sonny) of Louisville, KY, sister-in-law Jean Guffy of Bowling Green, KY, and brother-in-law Hillard Farris of Louisville, KY, also survive her, along with several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Thelma's life was further enriched by the companionship of her three special friends, Darlene Devine, Linda Arnold, and Lisa Lee.

A member of Belmont General Baptist Church, Thelma's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. Her favorite scripture, Ecclesiastes 3:1, encapsulated her understanding of life's seasons and her acceptance of God's plan. Thelma's career was as diverse as her interests, having worked at GE, Kellwood, Don Lindsey's, Dollar General Store, Flener's Grocery, and Farris Restaurant and Truck Stop. Her work ethic was matched only by her commitment to her family.

Thelma's interests painted the picture of a life well-lived. She loved riding bikes, taking long walks, reading her Bible, and watching her birds. She loved cooking lunch for her family every Sunday, creating a tradition that will be remembered with fondness and gratitude. As an avid UK fan, Thelma's spirit and enthusiasm were infectious.
