Sign-ups underway for 2018 BC Jr. Pro Softball; Eval & Draft Day set for March 3

Although winter is still hanging around, March is just around the corner and that means youth softball time is approaching.  Over the off season a new fast-pitch softball league for girls ages 9-12 has been formed - Butler County Jr. Pro Softball.  It is being organized through the Butler County School District and by the Butler County High School softball program.  All players will be covered under the school district’s insurance policy.  Jr. Pro participation is open to students who do not live in Butler County, students who are homeschooled, and those enrolled in private schools.  Katie Gary has been hired as Jr. Pro Coordinator and will be the chief organizer of the league and will run day-to-day operations.  Practices will begin the first week of March, with games scheduled to begin in mid-April.  An end-of-season tournament is set for June 2-3 at the BCHS Softball Field.

The goal is to have enough players for four teams by the end of the month.  An evaluation and draft day is set up for Saturday, March 3, (12 to 3 p.m.) at the BCHS Softball Field.  All other games will be played at the Charles Black City Park in Morgantown.

The fee is $65 and will include a game jersey.  The player entry fee, as well as some team fundraising, will be used to cover all expenses associated with running the league - field maintenance, equipment needs, trophies/awards, umpires, etc.  Players will provide black pants, belt, and socks.  Players are required to complete a Middle School Sports Physical in order to participate.
