Shirley T. Embry

Shirley T. Embry, 81, of Morgantown, died Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.  She was a retired grocery store owner of Embry’s Grocery and Bait Shop in Aberdeen and worked for several years at Lakeview Nursing Home (now Morgantown Care and Rehab).  She was a member of Aberdeen Baptist Church.  

 

Shirley was born October 30, 1935 in Richardsville, Kentucky to the late Hillery Johnson Sr. and Allie Mae Young Johnson.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Wendell L. Embry; son-in-law Cecil Goff; granddaughter Myra Ashley Sweatt;  brother and sister-in-law Hillery “Jim Bat” Johnson and wife Lois; and brothers-in-law Charles West and Ellis McIntosh.  

 

Shirley is survived by two daughters - Diane Dyer and husband Elwood of Aberdeen; Kathy E. Goff of Bowling Green; and one son - John Embry and wife Beth of Aberdeen; three grandchildren - Chase Everett Goff and wife Lauren of Bowling Green; Isabella Faye Embry and Will Lincoln Embry; two great-grand children - Maddux Chase Goff and Ryder Joseph Goff; three sisters - Naomi West, Nellie McIntosh, and Doris McPherson and husband Bobby - all of Morgantown; three brothers - Les Johnson and wife Jolene of Beaver Dam; Laymon Johnson and wife Gaylene of Morgantown; Lindel “Diddle” Johnson and wife Sandy of Morgantown;  along with several nieces and nephews.

 

The funeral service for Shirley T. Embry will be Saturday, September 9, at 12 noon at the Jones Funeral Chapel in Morgantown.  Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 8 and from 9 a.m. until the time of the 12 noon service at the Jones Funeral Chapel.  Burial will be in the Aberdeen Baptist Church Cemetery.
