Shelton A. Embry

Shelton A. Embry, 77, of Owensboro passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Born in Butler County, KY, he had retired as a heavy equipment operator for Owensboro Municipal Utilities after 32 years. Mr. Embry was of the Baptist faith. He loved his wife and valued the time he spent with his family, especially playing with the grandkids, fishing at the lake, and motorcycle trips with his friends. Although the last years of life had their miseries, his smile and humor could brighten up a room as his eyes sparkled with life. His life may not have been one of fame or great wealth, but rather a simple one that ended too soon.

Preceding him in death were his parents Calvin and Luvina Casey Embry; his brothers Herman Embry, Hayward Embry and Orville Embry; his stepbrother Trubert Daugherty; his stepsisters Lucy Duke and Tine Henderson; and his stepfather Frank Burden.

Mr. Embry is survived by his devoted and caring wife of 56 years, Ruby Embry; his daughter Lisa Waninger (Steve) of Owensboro; his granddaughters Crystal Schrecker (Chase), Brooke White (Jack Allen, III) and Shawna Mullen (Mike), all of Owensboro; his great granddaughters, Payton White, Jacqueline White, Lexie Mullen, Kolbie Mullen and Kreighton Mullen; his great grandsons, Dr. Jordan Thomas and Parker Mullen; and his brothers Ira Embry, Paul Embry, and Oulbert Embry.

The family would like to express special thanks to his Hillcrest "family" who knew him affectionately as Papaw.

The funeral service for Mr. Embry was held Monday, December 12 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to National Parkinson Foundation
200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800 Miami, FL 33131.
