Roy was born on October 14, 1927, the oldest child of Edna (Cherry) and Ebb Joiner.

Roy enlisted in the army from 1946-1948 and served in the motor pool during the restoration of Japan. He received the training that would begin his life-long successful career in automobile repair.

He married Pauline (Kirby) September 25, 1948. To this union was born a daughter Peggy and a son Rick.

Roy loved to work and was happiest when solving the riddle of why an automobile was not performing properly. He also enjoyed traveling with his family. He was a life-long Baptist, and his greatest pleasure was in his daily devotions and the time he spent studying his Bible. He was a member of Hillsdale Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. He was also a member of the Masons.

Survivors include his wife Pauline, of Venice, Florida; his son Rick Joyner, of Louisville, Kentucky; his daughter Peggy Walls, his grandson Garrett Walls, and granddaughter Nicole Walls, all of Effingham, Illinois; sisters Jean Childers, Betty Tucker, and sister-in-law Dean Clark Joiner, all of Morgantown, Kentucky; as well as many dear nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Dorothy and brother-in-law Olen Phelps; brother Joe and sister-in-law Zelma (Beck); brother Ernest; brothers-in-law Clay Childers and L.C. Tucker; and son-in-law Thomas Walls.

For the health and safety of the families we serve we are staying in compliance by the directives set forth by the Governor of Kentucky and CDC recommendations. The Joyner family has requested that all services be private and burial in the Threlkel Cemetery. A celebration of life memorial will be held at a later date.
