Roger Dale Burns

Roger Dale Burns, 67 of Bowling Green, Ky. went home to be with the Lord on November 14, 2016. He was passionate about his love for Christ: he was a faithful servant to the very end. He attended Blair Elementary and Central High School in St. Louis, Missouri where he was born on March 3rd, 1949. He lived there until moving to Bowling Green, Ky. in 1981. He is a WKU Alumni and a retiree of General Motors, where he worked for 38 years. After retiring from GM, he went on to work for the Bowling Green Independent School system as a substitute teacher. Known as Mr. Burns, he loved the students and staff he worked with at the following schools: Parker Bennett Curry, Dishman- Mcginnis, TC Cherry McNeill, Bowling Green Junior High and Bowling Green High School. Roger was a devoted member of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church, worked on missions with the men's ministry group. Carpenter For Christ and for over ten years sang gospel songs to the residents of Colonial Manor.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Debbie, son Roger Dale Burns II and wife Sharon, son Rodney D. Burns, son Randy D. Burns and wife Delia and daughter Debra King and husband Tom. His grandchildren Zachary, Elizabeth, Paige, Jacob, Robby, Matthew, Levi, Edith, Sophia, and Gloria; his great-granddaughter, Emma, and three of his sisters Kathy Valeri, husband Tom, Debbie Ellis, husband Dennis, and Sue Shelton. His sister-in-law, brothers-in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn D. and Melda Beers Burns; sister Pam Sheehan and granddaughter Elena Grace Burns.
Funeral services will be held at the Christ Fellowship Baptist Church Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 2:00 pm with Bro. Jody Sledge, Bro. Brian Curtis and Bro. Lance Parrott officiating.
Burial will be in the Monticello Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016, from 10:00 am until funeral time at 2:00 pm at the Christ Fellowship Baptist Church on Sugar Maple Square 1347 KY- 185 #13 Bowling Green, Ky. 42101.
