Richard W. Wilkerson

Richard W. Wilkerson, known affectionately as Rick to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Monday,  May 26, 2025, at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Born on Sunday, October 19, 1952, in Owensboro, KY, Rick's life was one marked by love, and laughter.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Wilkerson and Nora Ellen Phelps, and his brother, Bennett Phelps. His legacy continues through his beloved wife of 53 years, Tina Wilkerson, whom he married on October 2, 1971. Together, they built a life filled with joy and cherished memories. He was a proud father to three children: Melisa Flener (Keith) of Morgantown, KY, Shawn Wilkerson (Kelly) of Sweeden, KY, and Jarrod Wilkerson of Morgantown, KY. His love extended to his five grandchildren, Brittany Wilkerson, Hunter Wilkerson (Weslei), Logan Wilkerson, Mason Wilkerson, and Briar Flener, as well as his five great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable happiness.

Rick's family circle included his six siblings, Julie Duvall of Morgantown, KY, Bill Horton of Indiana, Brenda Brumley (Dave) of Indiana, Tonya Reed of Indiana, Mark Wilkerson (Teresa) of Indiana, and John Wilkerson (Kaye). He was also a cherished uncle to several nieces and nephews.

A retired truck driver, Rick was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his profession. His service to his country as a United States Army veteran was a point of pride, and his experiences helped shape the man he became. Rick's interests were as varied as they were passionate. An avid gun enthusiast, he enjoyed trading and discussing different things. He enjoyed playing cards, playing pool and Rick never met a stranger.
