Raymond Paul DeWeese

Raymond Paul DeWeese, 88 of Morgantown, Ky. went to his eternal reward on December 23, 2012 at his residence. Born and reared in Kankakee, Illinois, he was active in his Church and the Boy Scouts, earning the prestigious "Eagle Scout Award". He was a 4th Degree Member of the Knight of Columbus, a fraternal Order for Catholic Men. During World War II the local Florence (later Roper) Stove Company, manufacture of gas, oil stoves and oil heaters, was converted into a "Defense Plant". He was employed as a draftsman in their Engineering Department. This Plant produced a variety of items for the Army and Navy. The Plant was the recipient of the Military "E" award. With the end of World War II, he began his career as an "Appliance Engineer" with the reopened Florence Stove Company, retiring in May 1985 after 42 years of service.
In the summer of 1986 and 1987, he and his sister Catherine Carolyn DeWeese came to Morgantown, Ky., to research the history of genealogy of their DeWeese ancestors. They co-authored the "DeWeese Family History" in September 1988. The manuscript was printed in Kankakee, Illinois. By December 1st 1988 Raymond and his sister Carolyn purchased the James Ayers Home property off Logansport Road and moved to Butler County, Ky. They became members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. In 1996 they received the "Outstanding Rural Development Leader Award" for their contributions to Church and Community. Raymond was a member of the "Butler County Genealogical Society", "Big Bend Rural Development Club", "Sons of the American Valley Forge" and the "County Bi-Centennial Committee". He was an avid researcher of the "County History", the findings of which may be found in one of his seven publications available at the Butler County Library. In 2007 he became a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Assemble in Bowling Green, Ky.
He is survived by a sister Catherine Carolyn DeWeese Morgantown, Ky.; niece Mary Lynn DeWeese Middleton, Wis.; nephew Richard M. DeWeese Vemtura, California; 4 grand nephews; one great grand nephew and many cousins.
He was predeceased in death by a brother Bernard J. DeWeese of Masison, Wisconsin - his parents Ray Paul DeWeese born in Butler County, Ky. and Catherine Mary Coen DeWeese born in Sheffield, England- Paternal Grand Parents John Wesley and Caroline Fleener DeWeese both of whom were born in Butler County, Ky.- Maternal Grand Parents James Bomen and Elizabeth Fraser Scott Coen both of whom were born in Irelan.
For those persons who wish to make an offering rather than send flowers, such offerings will be sent to the "St Vincent dePaul Society Committee", a charitable organization, whose address is St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, P.O. Box 127 Fordsville, Kentucky 42343.
Visitation will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel on Friday December 28, 2012 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm with the pray service at 6:00pm. The funeral service will be held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Saturday December 29, 2012 at 10:00am with  Father Kalombo officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. The Honor Guard from the Bowling Green Knights of Columbus Assembly will be in attendance at the Visitation, Church Funeral and Burial Service.
