Philip D. Shumway

Philip D. Shumway, age 72 formerly of 4351 North State Route 53, Tiffin, Ohio died at 3:33 P.M., Sunday, November 7, 2021 after a sixteen year battle with Alzheimers. He passed away at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on December 22,1948 in Tiffin, Ohio to Robert and Jimmie (Arthur) Shumway. He first married Margaret (Yaney) Shumway and they later divorced. He then married Gladys (Scott) Clouse-Shumway and she survives in rural Tiffin, Ohio.                                                                                        

Surviving are the following children, Lisa (James) Neighbors, Morgantown, Kentucky and Jason (Becky) Shumway, Morgantown, Kentucky. Also surviving are three step-sons, Rich (Deb) Clouse, rural Tiffin, Ohio, Bryan (Sheri) Clouse, rural Sycamore, Ohio and Kevin Clouse, rural Tiffin, Ohio. Surviving are the following grandchildren, Rylan Shumway, Breyley Shumway, Kia Alsept, Stephanie Hicks, Hailey Russon, Zachary Andrick, Michael Andrick, Justin Oliver and Lincoln Shumway plus step grandchildren, Chris Clouse, Aaron Clouse, Stacy Clouse, Hunter Clouse, James Clouse, Elizabeth Clouse, Gracie Clouse and Ava Clouse. Philip has four great grandchildren, James Russon, Matthew Russon, Quinn Hicks and Nash Hicks plus one step great granddaughter, Olivia Clouse Also Philip has five brothers and sisters, Merilyn Shumway, Tiffin, Ohio, Albert (Nancy) Shumway, Harrison, Ohio, Charles (Carolyn) Shumway, Mansfield, Ohio, Carol (Andy) Feasel, Republic, Ohio and George (Dixie) Shumway, Harrison, Ohio. Philip was preceded in death by one grandson, Mason Andrick besides his parents.                                                                              

Philip was a thirty year driver for UPS-Fremont, Ohio and in his spare time was a massage therapist. He was a 1967 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School, was a former member of the Tiffin Elk’s Lodge, Moose Lodge of Tiffin and the Tiffin Eagles. He loved to gamble and go to Las Vegas for shows and to gamble out there. He was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era from 1968-1970.                                 

A memorial service for Philip will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with the Rev. Amy Vittorio officiating. Burial will follow at Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin, Ohio where the Seneca County Veteran Council will conduct a military graveside service. Visitation will be held from 10:00-1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
