Opal Mae Phelps, age 83 of Morgantown, KY passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab. Opal was born on Saturday, March 2, 1940 in Butler County, KY to the union of the late Tower and Nellie Farris Johnson and wife of the late Denzil W. Phelps She was a member of Roundhill Church of Christ and retired from Kellwood in Morgantown. Opal loved spending time with her family and enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, planting flowers, going to church, and reading her Bible. Other than her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her three sisters Evelyn, Myrtie and Roselee and six brothers Julian, Geanie, Ben, Sherman, Darrell and Bill.

Opal Mae Phelps is survived one son Dale Lyvon Phelps of Bowling Green, KY; four grandchildren Mistucka Neighbors (Brad), Bryan Phelps, Andrew Phelps and Dylan Phelps; five great grandchildren Tristan Coots, Amber Moore (Ben), Kaitlyn Coots, Addie Rone and Aiden Phelps; great great grandson Castiel Coots; one brother Leroy Johnson (Kathy), 2 sister Gracie Johnson and Rachel Shaw and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 12:00pm with Bro. Brian Neighbors officiating. Burial will be in the Threlkel Cemetery off Highway 70 East. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 10:00am until funeral time at 12:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
