Nevel "Lee" Phelps Jr., 73 of Morgantown, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. He was born March 5, 1944, in Butler County Kentucky to the late Nevel Phelps and Reva Embry Jones. Lee retired from General Electric in Louisville, parts manager at Roy Phelps Ford, worked as a coal miner and retired from IMCO. He was a member of Temple Hill General Baptist Church, devoted many hours to Butler County Athletic Booster and Butler County Cruisers Car Club. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by one sister Marilyn Cardwell and one grandson Alex Foster.

Nevel "Lee" Phelps Jr. is survived by his wife of 52 years Brenda Johnson Phelps of Morgantown, Kentucky; one son Patrick Phelps (Etosha) of Georgetown, KY.; one daughter Tammy Young (Timmy Goodall) of Morgantown, KY.; three granddaughters Sarah KayLee Fry and Abigail Lane Fry both of Morgantown, KY. and Addison Grace Phelps of Georgetown, KY; one grandson Zander Lee Phelps of Georgetown, KY.; two sisters Shelia Burton of Morgantown, KY. and Tina Colter (Timmy) of Morgantown, KY.; one great-grandson Shelby Kasen Wester of Morgantown, KY.; brother in law Doyle Cardwell of Morgantown, KY.; special cousin Kenny Embry (Alma) of Caneyville, KY. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Saturday, October 21, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Gary Embry officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Phelps Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00am until funeral time at 1:00 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
