Naomi Johnson West

Naomi Johnson West, age 92, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.  She was born on July 11, 1931 in Richardsville, Ky.  She was a member of the Leonard Oak General Baptist Church and was retired from the Butler Co. Jail, where she cooked many delicious meals.  Naomi enjoyed talking on the phone, feeding the birds, watching wrestling and was an avid UK basketball fan.  She was the mayor/governor of Bull Creek.  She was preceded in death by her parents Hilery and Allie Mae Young Johnson; husband Charles Edward West; daughter Debbie Shain; brother Jim Bat Johnson; sisters Shirley Embry and Nellie McIntosh.

She is survived by her sons Alan West (Anita), David West (Virginia), Eddie West (Velma) and Richard West (Dawn); grandchildren Annie Hawkins (Jeff), Jana Widener (Lance), Heath West (Myranda), Amanda Jones (Brian),  Dustin West (Jill), Reagan Shumway (Rylan), Matthew Flener (Nancy) and Carlie West; several great grandchildren; brothers Laymon Johnson (Gaylene), Lessie Johnson (Jolene) and Lindel “Diddle” Johnson (Sandy); sister Doris McPherson (Bobby); several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023 at 11am with Bro. Jimmy McIntosh and Bro. James Willis officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ridgeview Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 28 from 12pm until 8pm and Tuesday from 8am until 11am at Smith Funeral Home.
