It was sheer Hawaiian magic at the historical Moana Surfrider Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii on Saturday, April 9, 2016. After a traditional Hawaiian invocation and songs by Leon & Malia, our Pacific Rim Book Festival awards attendees gave heartfelt speeches about the long struggles to produce their award-winning books. It was truly a night to remember along with the proceedings that day of the gathering.
Morgantown, Kentucky author Linda J. Hawkins was present to give an acceptance speech for her winning title: Southern Seasons with Memory Making Recipes (winning first place). She was joined by her husband Ray. Also making the trip with her was granddaughter Jenna Hawkins and brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Brenda Gill.
