Michael Lynn Barks
Michael Lynn Barks, known affectionately as Mike to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Born on August 17, 1956, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, Mike's journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his loved ones, his country, and his community.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. and Mary Lee Barks; his sister, Diana Abbott; his brother, Joel Barks; and his uncles, Charles Lee, Connie Lee, and his aunt and uncle, L.C. and Zelma Ragland. His legacy continues through his beloved companion of 35 years, Connie Gill Webster of Morgantown, Kentucky, and his three sons, Jason Barks (Melody), and twins Jonathan Barks (Lindsey) and Nathan Barks (Jenel), all of Morgantown, KY. His grandchildren, Brayden McCoy Barks, Caden Ferrell, Destin Wester, Wyatt Martin, Lawson Barks, and Jenna and Jase Brooks, all of Morgantown, KY. Mike's siblings, Rita Dye of Bowling Green, KY, Debbie Johnson of Morgantown, KY, Jeff Barks (Shelia) of Morgantown, KY, and Peggy Fox (Dino) of Belton, KY. His aunt, JoAnn McCoy (Roger) of Morgantown, KY, along with several nieces and nephews.
A proud United States Army Veteran, Mike was a man of faith who attended Richland Missionary Baptist Church. His professional life was as diverse as it was impressive. For 20 years, he dedicated his skills to Industrial Maintenance at Cutler Hammer Eaton in Bowling Green, KY. Mike was also the industrious owner of J&M HVAC for over 40 years and served as an Electrical Inspector for two decades in Butler, Ohio, Edmonson, Grayson, Warren, Logan, and Simpson counties. Mike's interests were a reflection of his love for the outdoors and his commitment to family. He enjoyed fishing, working on the farm, and above all, spending time with his grandchildren brought him the greatest happiness.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Wednesday, January 14, 2025 at 11:00am with Bro. Gary Oberhausen officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester Cemetery, where military rights will be presented by the Ohio County AM VETS and his family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2025 from 4:00pm- 8:00pm and Wednesday 8:00am until funeral time at 11:00am at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
