Michael E. Geary

Michael E. Geary, age 69 of Caneyville, KY, affectionately known as Mike to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at his residence in Caneyville, KY, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Born on June 21, 1956, in Grayson County, KY, Mike's journey through life was marked by his loving nature, friendly demeanor, and deep faith.

Mike proudly served his country as a Military Policeman in the United States Army, a period of his life that shaped his strong sense of duty and commitment to his community. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to law enforcement, working with the Ohio County Sheriff's Department, Caneyville Police Department, and Morgantown City Police. He found his calling in helping others, which he continued to do after retiring from Communicare as a supervisor and job development coordinator, where he was instrumental in placing people back into the workforce.

A man of deep faith, Mike was of the Missionary Baptist Church. Mike's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Sandra M. Amos Geary, whom he married on December 20, 1986. He was a father to his two sons, Timothy M. Geary (Beth) of Leitchfield, KY, and Anthony Heath Geary of Morgantown, KY. His grandchildren, Molly A. Geary and Corbin M. Geary, both of Leitchfield, KY.

Mike is also survived by his sister-in-law, Melba Geary of Millwood, KY; three sisters-in-law, Susan Decker (Larry) of Morgantown, KY, Stacia Moore (Bert) of Central City, KY, and Stephanie Alexander (Silas) of Morgantown, KY; and several loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James "Corbett" and Mollie Ada Young Geary; his siblings, Edith Curry, Cassoline Joines, Jonell Payton, Ralph Geary, and James "Jimmy" Geary; his father and mother-in-law, Gordon and Edith Amos; and his brother-in-law, Gordon "Buddy" Amos Jr.

In retirement, Mike found pleasure in the simple things in life. He enjoyed spending time at the beach. Above all, he relished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable happiness.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Friday, February 27, 2026 at 1:00pm with Bro. Larry Cardwell officiating. Burial will be in the Laymon Cemetery where his family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 9:30am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
