Melvin Carl "MC" Lacefield, a cherished soul known for his kindness, friendliness, and intelligence, passed away peacefully at his residence in Morgantown, Kentucky, on February 1, 2026. Born on August 30, 1945, in Butler County, Kentucky, MC's life was a testament to the enduring spirit of love and hard work that he embodied throughout his 80 years.
MC was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lucille Cooper Lacefield, his wife, Patricia Dian Phelps Lacefield, and his sister and brother-in-law, Abline and Chester Taylor. His legacy continues through his loving daughter, Tonya Lacefield (Mike) of Morgantown, KY, and his best friend, Randy Kitchens, also of Morgantown, KY. MC was a proud "Pappy" to, Jessica, Serenity, Easton, Weston, Gunner, and Kyli, and several nieces and nephews.
MC's professional life was marked by over three decades of dedicated service at Rose Construction Co., where he retired. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.
Beyond his professional achievements, MC was a man of many interests. He found solace and joy in the simplicity of nature, whether he was fishing, farming, or tending to his garden. He loved running the dozer and track hoe, and working on the farm was not just a chore but a passion that filled his days with purpose.
Those who knew MC will remember him as a man who could always be counted on for a warm smile and a helping hand. His intelligence was not just in his mind but in his actions, as he navigated life's challenges with grace and wisdom. His kind heart and friendly demeanor made him the man he was.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 1:00pm at his residence, 1959 Bryant Hollow Road Morgantown, KY 42261 with Bro. Tommy Phelps officiating. Burial was held in the Lacefield Family Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Butler County Cancer Assistance P.O.
