Melba Wilson Holman
Melba Wilson Holman, age 86 of Provo, KY, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2025, at the Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY. Born on Saturday, August 20, 1938, in Provo, Kentucky, Melba was a devoted Christian mother and Nana who loved her family and community with all her heart. Melba was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Ruby Pendley Wilson, her brother Darrell Wilson, her sisters Patricia Forbes and Delores Wilson and her son Chris Holman.
Melba is survived by her childhood sweetheart and loving husband of 69 years, James Holman; daughters, Connie Greathouse (Ricky) of Provo and Tracy Morrison (Dave) of Bowling Green; eight grandchildren Bryan Barks (Alene), Jeremy Barks, Jacob Greathouse (Jesse), Kelci Morrison, Jack Holman, Kelly Morrison, David Morrison, Jr, and Jessi Hack (Jeremy); eight great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Melba was a retired USPS Postmaster having served 31 years. She was an active member of Monticello Baptist Church, where she filled various roles in service over the years. She also was a member of Provo Rural Development Club and served in different leadership roles. She was a member of Eastern Star Lodge Lelia-Dixon #397, Red Hatters Society, Butler County Extension Council, Butler County Rural Develop Steering Committee, Butler County Extension Office Hall of Fame and served as the first woman on the board of directors for the Green River Bank.
Melba enjoyed traveling with her husband, along with her kids and grandkids on several big family vacations where many loving memories were made through the years. She also looked forward to many years of an annual snowbird trip to Florida with good friends that she loved so much. She was well-known as a wonderful cook and she enjoyed gardening.
Funeral services will be held at the Monticello Baptist Church Monday, January 20, 2025 at 11:00am with Bro. Randy Burns officiating. Burial will be in the Doolin-Rone Cemetery where Bryan and Jeremy Barks, Jacob Greathouse, Jack Holman, Conner Barks and Alexander Barks will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Monday 9:00am until funeral time at 11:00am at the Monticello Baptist Church. Instead of flowers, the family request donations to the Monticelllo Church Cemetery Fund 601 Monticello Church Road Morgantown, KY 42261.
